Most so called dry clean only
down comforters can be successfully cleaned of cat urine using the following
techniques.
This process is intended for down comforters that have not been previously dry
cleaned. If you have already dry cleaned your expensive down comforter click
here to learn why you will probably not be successful.
If you have not
used any type of cleaning product or home remedy on you down comforter then the
Super Cat Urine Remover is the appropriate cleaner for you.
If you have already used
any other type of cleaning product or home remedy
on your down comforter then the Urine Pooling product is the product you should
use.
We do not recommend you follow these procedures unless you have access to a
large commercial front loader washer. They are readily available for
approximately five dollars per wash.
Bring out your black light. If
you do not own a black light visit your local Home Depot. They have a good
assortment of General Electric black lights.
Review the product
preparation instructions before embarking on the actual cleaning. These products
work best when used according to their design parameters. If your down comforter
is relegated to the garage we suggest you bring it inside and allow it to warm
up for a couple of hours.
Shake the product vigorously prior to each use.

ProKlean™ products are odorless the more urine you are dealing with the stronger the odor that will be released upon application. This verifies the product is working and will dissipate quickly.
Use your black light to identify the areas that need your attention. Spray each
cat urine soaked area and allow the product to soak in for a short time. If you
are heading down to your local Laundromat we suggest you throw the down
comforter in a large plastic bag for the trip down to the local cleaning depot.
Wash in a large commercial washer adding the remainder of the bottle to the wash
water using cool water.
Add the remainder of the
product to your wash water. One bottle of product is recommended per wash load.
Do not add bleach.
Do not add detergent.
Do not add fabric softener or
any other cleaning
additive.
Use only cool water in the
wash cycle.
Wash using a full gentle
cycle.
Dry in a large dryer with a
couple of tennis balls will prevent the down in the comforter from getting
bunched up.
