If you want to learn how to clean
car upholstery, simply follow these straight forward cleaning instructions.
Automotive upholstery is very expensive. March on down and check their pricing
at any new car dealer. If you were to replace the interiors on the average new
car you would be easily looking at three to five thousand dollars. That’s why it
pays to do the work yourself and put the money in your own pocket.
Don't let the new car mystic fool
you into believing you can't do the job yourself. The following instructions
prove you can easily accomplish the task.
The first thing to determine is the appropriate product for your cleaning
environment.
If your new car
upholstery is the normal all synthetic variety we recommend the Car Upholstery
Cleaner.
If you have the luxurious
leather upholstery you should use the ProKlean™ Leather Cleaner.
Maximum results are achieved when the seats are removed and you treat both sides
of the urine. This is not as hard as it sounds and most twelve years boys can
easily remove the front seats in under twenty minutes. Now is a good time to try
out that tool set that Johnny got for Christmas.
All automotive front seats are held in place by four easily accessible bolts.
Make sure you disconnect the small electrical connectors by carefully pulling
them apart. Take a quick look at them during the removal process so you will
know how they all come together when those seats are show room clean.
The rear seats are even easier and are typically held in place by only two
bolts.
Make sure that the
product and the seats are at the recommended temperature range. Using them
within their intended operating range maximizes your results so take a peek at
them.
Use a black light to locate the cat urine. If you don’t own a black light stop
by your local Home Depot. They carry a nice assortment of General Electric black
lights.
Set the sprayers according
to our recommendations.
Use the black light to find the areas that the cat urinated on. Spray both sides
of the car seats so that you have achieved good coverage. Continue this process
until you have discovered and treated all of the cat urine.
ProKlean™ products are odorless the more urine you are dealing with the stronger the odor that will be released upon application. This verifies the product is working and will dissipate quickly.
Double check under the seats.
Depending on how much cat urine you are dealing with some may have leaked onto
the floor boards. Treat any areas of the floor boards that show any trace of the
cat urine.
When the job is complete simply have your teenage son reinstall the car seats
and you are good to go.
