How To Clean Car Upholstery
Follow these straight forward cleaning instructions on how to clean car seats, carpets, center consoles, dashboards, door panels, kick panels, headliners, leather, mats, seat belts, sun visors, upholstery and the interior.

Cloth or leather it isn't clean until you get out the pee. These instructions are appropriate for all cars, crossover vehicles, luxury cars, motorhomes, pickup trucks, RVs, SUVs, travel trailers, vans and recreational vehicles upholstery.

New automotive upholstery is very expensive. If you were to replace the seats and the interiors on the average new car you would be easily looking at seven to fifteen thousand dollars. That’s why it pays to do the work yourself and put the money in your own pocket.

Best results are achieved when the seats are removed and you treat both sides of the urine. Most consumers have the skills necessary to easily remove their car seats for a thorough cleaning. Removing the car seats before cleaning is the best approach as dog and cat urine can penetrate completely thru the car seats into the carpeting and padding.

All ProKlean™ cleaning products can be successfully used in the automotive environment. Choose the appropriate dog or cat urine cleaning product if you have the typical synthetic upholstery. If you have leather interiors then choose one of the Leather Cleaning kits.

All automotive front seats are held in place by four easily accessible bolts. Make sure you disconnect the small electrical connectors by carefully pulling them apart. Take a quick look at them during the removal process so you will know how they all come together when those seats are show room clean.

The rear seats are even easier and are typically held in place by only two bolts.

Make sure that the product and the seats are at the recommended temperature range. Using the cleaning products within their intended operating range maximizes your results.

Use a black light to locate the cat urine. If you don’t own a black light stop by your local Home Depot. They carry a nice assortment of cheap General Electric black lights.

Set the sprayers according to our recommendations.

Use the black light to find the areas that the cat urinated on. Spray both sides of the car seats so that you have achieved complete coverage. Continue this process until you have discovered and treated all of the cat urine.

ProKlean™ products are odorless the more urine you are dealing with the stronger the odor that will be released upon application. This verifies the product is working and will dissipate quickly.

Double check under the seats. Depending on how much cat urine you are dealing with some may have dripped and leaked onto the floor boards. Treat any areas of the carpeting, padding and floor boards that show any trace of the cat urine. In extreme cases carpet removal and treatment is advised.

When you are satisfied with your results simple reinstall those front seats by reattaching the electrical harnesses and then the four hold down bolts. Tighten those bolts down firmly.

Even if you decide to hire someone to remove the seats from your car, motorhome or rv for cleaning this process is still considerably cheaper than buying a new set of factory seats.
