ProKlean™ Dog Behaviors

Dog bladders vary significantly based on breed. Like any other living creature there are several reasons which may cause a dog to urinate on your expensive carpeting and upholstery.

Older dogs may suffer from a medical condition called canine urinary incontinence. Canine urinary incontinence simply means that the dogs muscles have weaken over time and the dog’s bladder simply cannot hold the same volume of urine that it was able to when it was young.

Contact your local veterinarian for possible pharmaceutical solutions to canine urinary incontinence.

Young healthy dogs as a rule will not urinate on clean carpeting, upholstery or your favorite leather coat. Instead the dogs will carefully sniff around searching for an area that has already been urinated on. If the dog does urinate on your clean carpeting, upholstery or your new leather coat it is simply because the dog’s bladder is full and the dog cannot hold it any longer.

Occasionally there may be an exception to this rule, in which case we call this condition canine urinary obstinance or simply the dog’s refusal to accept change in their environment. Canine urinary obstinance while not a recognized medical condition can be rather challenging as you try and figure out exactly what your dog is unhappy about.

Canine psychiatrists may be helpful in dealing with canine urinary obstinance so consult with your local veterinarian for the best canine psychiatrists in your area.
